Testimonials

I came to know Ben Sheridan whilst he was employed as a fitness instructor at Atlantic Reach fitness centre.

During his time at Atlantic reach I found Ben to be a conscientious instructor, he would put clients at ease with his friendly manner and I found him to be patient with some of our demanding members.

His assessments of members needs was reflected in the programs he wrote giving them challenging but achievable targets at the same time keeping the client motivated.

Ben’s demonstrations of complex techniques were good and instructions were also clear so clients were confident about attempting something new. His general demeanor in the gym was excellent; so that clients were able to approach without apprehension, therefore helping to make the gym environment less intimidating to those who are unfamiliar with the surroundings.

Ben Sheridan has been an asset to Atlantic reach fitness centre.

Derek Morrison, Gym Manager

I was fortunate to have enjoyed training with Ben whilst a member of Atlantic Reach Gym from April 2006.
I am 45 years of age, and plated volleyball internationally. I am also a BASI qualified ski instructor, played county level squash, ran 2 marathons and 4 half marathons. I have also cycled around the Northeast coast of America.

When I first joined I kept myself to myself as I consider myself fit and had a good knowledge of the gym and various training regimes. Ben was always friendly and after a few months started a conversation in which he suggested I should try to train slightly differently.

His suggestions had an immediate effect and re-ignited my enthusiasm for strength training. He wrote me a personalized program and constantly arranged to meet at the gym to train with me, which was a huge benefit and now greatly missed.

His knowledge of muscle anatomy was seriously tested by my constant questions and quest for further knowledge, as I need to know how and why. As an instructor his enthusiasm is infectious and his manner is easy to accept instruction from.

I enjoyed my training programs that he wrote for me, and a result my physical strength has improved. I would not hesitate in recommending him for any role within the industry.

Dave Wring, Newquay.

I was 66 when I started at the gym, having previous experience of gym work at all. I had been a member there for about a year when Ben arrived, he helped me realize what equipment I needed to use to achieve the suppleness in my joints that you need as you get older.

Ben set up a program for me and was very patient while I went through it making sure that I was doing all the exercises correctly. He came across friendly, helpful and quiet, but I got the impression he would not stand anyone being disruptive or messing about, which is what you need in that environment where heavy equipment is being used.

I was very sorry when I heard he was leaving, but I am still using ideas he gave me.

Frank Fisher, St. Columb Major.

My experience in the gym was heightened when Ben arrived and started training; he was very helpful explaining what the equipment would do to help me achieve my goals and finding out what I wanted.

He created a program for me using equipment I had never used explaining what it was aimed at achieving. Then after 6 weeks he created another program making it a little bit harder.

He was always attentive when you were using the equipment and if you were not doing something correctly he was there to correct you in a nice way.

I first met Ben at the Atlantic reach Holiday complex where he was working as a trainer in the gym in 2007.

Ben as a trainer was excellent at motivating and encouraging me to push myself further on the program he had produced for me. He had the ability to encourage and look for positive ways to keep me moving forward as my fitness improved.

I always found him cheerful and sociable. He was studying for exams to develop his own career, but still thought of creative ways to keep my interest in the program and was flexible to meet up with you if you needed some backup.

Ben was working at Club Domaine, Atlantic Reach, when I took my first tremulous step into the world of serious keeping fit. It was his support and guidance as an instructor that made that world accessible to me, and one in which I now feel at home.

I speak as someone who has always been quite daunted by the prospect of entering a gym, and by the sight of scary-looking super-fit people doing impossible things. I am 62, and thanks to Ben’s skills as an instructor and to his personal qualities of gentleness and patience, I have become one of those. Not perhaps super-fit and scary, and not yet doing anything impossible (ha ha), but I’m on my way!

Ben was a huge asset to the Club Domaine, with his professionalism, his patience, his kindness and his understanding. The amount of time he took with anyone who needed help was absolutely unlimited and freely and willingly given. Ben has a special gift of being able to build up your self-confidence, and make you feel ok at whatever level you are at. In fact he made Club Domaine gym totally accessible and user-friendly. He is an ideal person to play apart implementing the Governments policy of extending physical fitness through sport to as wide a section of the community as possible, in the current climate f concern about general fitness and obesity levels.

Going to the gym regularly has given me a new lease of life and a sense of general well-being which is frequently remarked upon by my family and friends, who remember the school girl who used to hide in the cloakroom to avoid gym. It was Ben who set me firmly on the path to this transformation, and I am hugely grateful to him. I cannot recommend him too highly. He is a star and a credit to his profession.

Barbara Gordon (Ms), Indian Queens.

Ben put together 3 routines, which gave great results. I was doing better than ever before in other gyms over the years. He always took me through every workout till I was able to do it right and would help even when he was not on duty. Very motivated, worked hard at his own fitness, so led by example. Been missed by a lot of people when he left.
He also helped me with core stability and stretching programs. All my programs were hard but enjoyable, he had the gift to keep us all motivated and keep it all up, and even though we all had different limitations he helped everyone get results. If no progress were being made, he would research when he got home and would change the program to suit.
